Program Overview

Our Swim Season runs from September to June.

All new swimmers must be assessed by a WSSC Coach Prior to registering.

The date for the Swimmer Assessment for the upcoming season (September 2021 to June 2022) has yet to be determined.

With the current COVID restrictions, there is a limit of the number of swimmers permitted in the pool as set out by Swim Ontario and the Province.

Group Descriptions

Group

Pre-Requisites

Workout Days & Times

A Group

  • Elite Swimmers who are striving for Provincial and National levels of swimming
  • The training and expectations for this group is relevant to gaining the necessary conditioning and strength to compete at the highest level
  • Attendance is mandatory and the swimmers are asked to put a high degree of effort and determination into their training in order to achieve this level of competitiveness
  • Swimmers train 6 times per week for 90-minute sessions
  • Swimmers are expected to attend Competitive Meets, as well as the Club’s Fun Meet

Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 3:45-5:15 p.m.
Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday: 6:05-7:35 a.m.

B Group

  • The training and expectations for this group is relevant to gaining the necessary conditioning and strength to compete at the highest level
  • Attendance is mandatory and the swimmers are asked to put a high degree of effort and determination into their training in order to achieve this level of competitiveness
  • Swimmers train 6 times per week for 90-minute sessions
  • Swimmers are expected to attend Competitive Meets, as well as the Club’s Fun Meets

Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 3:45-5:15 p.m.
Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday: 6:05-7:35 a.m.

Gold Group

  • Swimmers will continue their learning of the stroke skills with the addition of training skills and preparation for swim meets
  • Swimmers are selected for this group based on their dedication, commitment and attitude
  • Swimmers train twice per week for 90-minute sessions (this may change once we are permitted to have more swimmers in the pool)
  • Attendance is mandatory as well to achieve success, but realize that the young athlete may also be involved in other sport activities
  • Swimmers are expected to attend Competitive Meets, as well as the Club’s Fun Meets

Tuesday/Thursday: 3:45-5:15 p.m.

Silver Group

  • Swimmers must be able to swim 8 lengths of the pool comfortably in Freestyle, Back and Breaststroke, efficiently dive into the deep end and somersault in the water
  • The program further develops each skill required for competitive swimming
  • Swimmers must be able to complete two 90-minute sessions per week
  • Stroke Development Awards and Challenge Awards are given on successful completion of the required skills
  • Swimmers are expected to attend Competitive Meets and participate in the Club’s Fun Meets
Until the restrictions of the number of swimmers permitted in the pool changes, were are unable to run our Bronze or Silver Groups.

Bronze Group

  • Swimmers  MUST have completed Swimmer Level 8 and be a minimum of 8 years of age
  • Swimmers must be able to swim 4 lengths of the pool in Freestyle, Back and Breaststroke, dive efficiently into the deep end and somersault in the water
  • Swimmers must be able to complete two 60-minute sessions per week
  • The program introduces the swimmer to each skill required for competitive swimming
  • Stroke Development Awards and Challenge Awards are given on successful completion of the required skills
  • Swimmers are expected to participate in the Club’s Fun Meets and Competitive Meets once the Coach feels they are ready
